i believe it is the opposit, given the same wave form you would have 20 instead of 10,
dave has demonstrated the hack, and compaired the before and after, the rise time actualy improoves.

So if you do the Rigol upgrade trick, are you actually reducing it down to 10 samples per waveform?

It's just like all the others, only worse in places.
200MS/s isn't too bad.
Major downside is 1KB of sample memory, are they kidding? Only 500mV/div with a x1 probe is limiting.
I wouldn't pay US$250 for it.

You need to know your requirements in an oscilloscope before you lay down your money...

Hi,
I am unfortunately constrained to a pretty tight budget. Money will get diverted if it gets to be $1000. ;) I saw this usb scope on SparkFun and read through the specs while watching different parts of this podcast. Unfortunately they don't call things the same as you do. Would you mind looking at it and see what you think? If it's like all the others, don't worry about it, but if it seems like its usable, I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks!

I emailed Rigol about finding out who their distributor is in the USA. (they are on ebay) I cant find them anywhere. I will comment back if they give a reply. I also mentioned your page.

Is Rigol the best you can recommend for a first scope less then $1000?

I extensively used the Tek TDS3000 series and really like them, although I cant afford one. The TDS1000 series is really non-intuitive and am not really a fan.
Honestly I had lots of trouble even figuring out how to do the simplest things, with the same brand scope?!

Good Episode David.
