AD14, selecting top overlay in specific area
« on: November 25, 2015, 09:51:14 am »
Hi all,

I am just about to finish my first layout in AD14 and doing "a final touch". I am trying to select (and then delete) top overlay component primitives (silkscreen) in some specific area. When I do "find similar" it selects all similar primitives including my company logo etc. Which I don't want to.

On the other hand when I display only a top overlay and use even "select all from layer", it selects whole components but no primitives. For that reason my filter "(Layer = 'TopOverlay')" and Apply to Selected does not work.

Could somebody give me a hint how to select a Top/Bottom overlay in a specific area?

Thanks in advance !

PS: Yes, I googled and experimented but without any luck.
PPS: Yes, it may be faster to do it manually than asking on the forum but I am learning a new tool and may use these principles in future.

All right, I found a method using

"InRegionRelative(0,0,3000,1200) and (Layer = 'TopOverlay')"

Is there a simpler / different way ?

 :)

So you're trying to select primitives that are parts of components?  In PCB Inspector, is "Lock Primitives" selected for the components in question?

AD is a little funny about primitives, as you've seen sometimes they get filtered and sometimes they don't.  There are also some options in PCB filter for free/'in component' primitives that you could play with.

- Yes exactly. And yes, primitives are unlocked. I can select them manually or even do multiple selections holding shift (and click)

I will check it out tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.
