AD16 - Pen is different

So they moved the lovely pen tool from lower right corner of the interface into the toolbar up top. They also gave you the ability to set custom colors. Great, maybe more people will see it and the other feature is nice too.

BUT - I can't click 1 - button to start highlighting and pressing space no longer rotates colors on the tool (also there's no indicator what color you're using).

Can anybody help me restore this functionality? It's slowing my workflow because I use it to highlight nets during / for review.
