AD18 - Draftsman dimensioning issue
« on: February 28, 2018, 11:15:26 am »
I have a rigid-flex board where I want to add dimensions to the individual sections, for instance length of FR4 section or flex section. The problem is that Draftsman only seems to accept the outer contour of the complete PCB as valid point to snap the measurements to. I get an orange in the corners or the complete side highlighted as the mouse pointer hovers over it. A T-shaped intersection between corners seems to be impossible to snap to. Tried to add lines that goes outside, inside or with connection to the PCB outline, but none of them seems to be accepted by Draftsman after updating the board. The line is there, but it cannot be selected.
It is also not possible to add a measurement and then to move it manually to the position I want.

We are on subscription so I just filed a case to the support, but any thoughts or ideas for workarounds?

I have received feedback from Altium's support and the summary is that it is not possible without manual tweaks of the outline. So the workaround will be to add a small difference in width between the area defined as flex and the area of FR4.
Internal board cutouts are handled properly.
