In mid-august (supposedly a beta version), the official version should be released in October.

I don't think the fact that it's a new major number really means anything.  They've simply tied the major numbers to the year.  At the very least there's no basis to expect another AD17->18 level of update.  Whether it's a net positive or not is another question, but hopefully AD18 gives them a better basis for improvement than prior versions.

they release a new AD major revision more or less every year for a long time.. as explained above, normally it's not that big a difference.. A new software component maybe, or some new features for existing components.  For a while they were ever doing releases on season (AD summer 09, AD winter 09? which was bound to be great fun for anyone in the wrong hemisphere)

Of course AD18 was a huge jump (similar to when they did AD10, and with a similar huge list of side effects and issues to iron out)

AD19 will just be a continuation of what's happening with 18, maybe with a new feature somewhere.. probably will be mostly just more bugfixes, the way AD18 is going so far.

OMG...please just fix the bugs!!!!! Everything worked in AD17 (most of the time), but with AD18, it randomly crashes in this state where I cannot even exit out. :scared:

Just today, I was doing differential pair match routing. It kept snapping the box size back and it did not let me adjust the size of the humps (or whatever you call it). It worked after I deleted the interactive length tuning box and retried 10 more times.

Is that mail really an official mail? It seems a bit heavy-handed.
