Back Annotate From BOM
« on: October 31, 2017, 11:19:29 am »
Is there a way (AD 17.x) to back annotate from a BOM? I have SCH and PCB that have all correct and matching refdes to a BOM but all the component attributes are missing or incorrect and a BOM with correct component attributes. Is there an automated way to back annotate all the component attributes from the BOM? I have about half dozen projects like this with hundreds of components each; i would really like to not have to do this manually (or stick someone with this manual task).

Use the Parameter Manager.  Sort by Designator, match up all the BOM items one to one, then copy and paste.  Boom, done.

Matching up items can be tedious if you have to enter formulas on the spreadsheet, but doing a bunch at a time shouldn't be too bad.

This is the manual way, akin to opening up each component and pasting in the parameters.  Just, doing it in parallel.  Alternately, you might be able to set the BOM as a database source (using a DbLink file) and get the parameters to import.
