bus of harnesses
« on: November 26, 2018, 05:53:49 pm »
Is there a neat solution to creating a bus or array of harnesses? Say I have a large number of differential pairs, or other multi-wire sets like PCIE lanes. I create a harness to contain those wires (eg a diffpair harness connector with entries D_N and D_P), but then I want to group all those harnesses into a bus or array (eg DIFFPAIRS[31..0]). Sure, I can use another harness with DIFFPAIR0...DIFFPAIRn entries, but this gets tedious for even a handful of pairs, and would be really painful for, say, a 16x PCIe bus.

Nope.  A harness containing other harnesses is the best you can do.  Sixteen diffpairs isn't that bad, especially since you can define the harness connector once.  I don't know that there's much value in making each individual diff pair a harness unto itself.
