footprint update in layout

Hi newb question
in the schematic I changed the footprint of  symbol. recompile the  schematic then updated the layout.
The foot print did not change. Why is this the case?

in the schematic properties the footprint is shown,  compiling (sch to layout) it's states not found.
not sure why this was the case :-//

Try (PCB view) Project/Component Links. Match up SCH and PCB objects, hit OK.

when a footprint is changed for a part does this appear automatically in the footprint manager?

you could solve this problem like below:

I have attached a pic
open the PCB file:
Tools--> Update from PCB libraries---> press (update all footprints (ECO))

then validate and execute....

Basically all design changes go through "Engineering Change Order" in Altium. That ensures that in multi-user environment all changes that can obviously in any way alter the functionality or manufacturability of the product are accounted for and reported and accepted properly and not without a proper review.

Yeah, it feels clunky as hell if there's only single user, but it's there for a good reason and honestly has saved me personally from myself a few times. :)
