Routing a component on one side of board only
« on: June 23, 2017, 09:06:03 pm »
Hi, I am trying to route a component on one side of the board only. I have changed the pads from 'simple' to 'Top-Middle-Bottom' and put in a size for the bottom only. But when the board is routed, it still routes on both sides. why would that be?

Routing in 1 layer is very difficult on auto-router because component placement makes all the difference. The only reason to use it is for an early image of how final result will look like (if you are inexperienced) and make a ton of adjustments for the best result.

If you have AD17 you can use active route on some tracks which in my opinion is very nice for simple routing.

If you have a very complicated board consider using 2 layers. Why you want 1 side? Because you will produce thousands of them or you will make it yourself?
With photosensitive pcb its possible to make double sided. I did it with the first try.
