Title: Multi-sheet Busses into Busses
Post by: zephyrus on January 10, 2018, 11:05:50 pm
Hi,

So I've got a bunch of multicolour LEDs I want to wire up using repeated sheets.
They're driven by a bank of LED drivers, but the problem is when I go to wire the sheets together, I have an 80 width bus going into a 4 width bus repeated 20 times. I can logically match them but I'm having trouble getting Altium to split a bus up into 20 smaller ones. What's the way to do this?

You can't do hierarchical buses or buses of buses. Supposedly hierarchical harnesses are in development, but who knows when that feature will be available.

One sort of workaround could be to create a marshalling sheet where a bunch of buses come in one side and get mixed into a single larger bus that goes out the other side.  Might need to mess with the net name resolution settings to get that to work.
