Name nets without a net label?
« on: April 30, 2017, 10:01:17 pm »
Is it possible to name a NET but not have the text show on the schematic? I'm working on a dense design and I know that it'll be useful in the future to use the Navigator pane to highlight nets later.

For example, I'm using a lot of test points attached to an FPGA. I want to be able to select net TP45 instead of hunting down NetTP45_1

yikes... a feature like that would give you so much rope to hang yourself with!

just imagine having a schematic full of what looks like separate nets to anyone reading it, that are all actually joined!

do you have lots of screen space? you can always cross probe to highlight pcb nets from the schematic...

Should be, my schematics have zero Net names unless I specify them.

Nope.  Autogenerated names are always of the NetPart_Pin format.

You may find it useful to generate sequential arrays with the Paste Special command, or by writing the names appropriately (enter net name as an expression "Y1 / 10" say, so its Y position becomes the name).  Or change names en masse using the SCH List Panel and pasting in from a spreadsheet.
