I've had this issue on many different versions of Altium. Sometimes when interactive routing from the end of an existing track that is not completed the silly router will flip over to another layer and start routing on another layer :( I find I have to delete tracks back to the nearest pad and restart the route again. The other thing it does time and time again but not always is to start a route with the track keepout  option enabled  |O Wonder if anyone else has experienced this and perhaps there is a simple fix for it but ca be very annoying after a while ?

cheers

I think this never happened to me  ::)

anyways you could try:
- must be on the current layer when you start to route
- try to use single layer mode (shift + S)
- when you start to route the uncompleted track, check if it snaps at the end point of that track before starting

Yes thanks, I believe I have tried all of that at some stage or another. Anyway I will just live with it for the time being :(

Are you not just clicking through to a trace on another layer?  That's the only time I've ever seen routing change active layers.
