Same net track clearance during an interactive routing
« on: October 30, 2017, 12:52:05 am »
Hello dear colleagues.

I have a serious problem with design rules in Altium Designer 10. I can't set up a fixed clearance between two or more tracks which belong to the same net. I want to draw an octagonal RFID PCB antennae (70x50mm outer and 30x10mm inner diameter). I have set a track width (0.35mm - critical) and a fixed clearance (0.20mm - critical) but when I'm starting an interactive routing, Altium does NOT keep that fixed clearance between the turns (I can easily make a short across all the drawn turns during coil drawing). I have switched a clearance rule to "Same Net Only" (under Design -> Rules) but it still did not avoid shorts during routing, so I have changed this option to "Any Net" - it now does not allow me to make a shorts between turns and seems to keep the clearance, but it also does not allow me to draw the rest of the turns!  |O

Does anybody know how to keep a fixed clearance between tracks with the same net during an interactive routing?

Yeh, clearance rules operate between different nets, your working on the same net.
Maybe easier just to setup an appropriate grid or place snap points (point guides) before routing.
