Synchronise active BOM manager and schematic user parameters
« on: November 09, 2018, 01:26:08 pm »
Hello,

I'm discovering the "active bom manager" in Altium Designer 14.
I understood the whole concept, but I think there are missing some functions, I guess (maybe I haven't discovered it yet):
is there a way to synchronise -or- do a sort of "backannotation" from an "active BOM manager" to the corresponding user parameters ?

You may know that pairs of parameters like "Suplier x / Supplier Part Number x" are added in a schematic component, when you right-click on it, and add a "supplier link".
As this, when you first create an active bom, theses parameters are used to populate the "BOM catalog".
Now, you can add "solutions" for each component, by e.g. adding other supplier links.

But it seem at this stage there isn't a way to synchronise theses informations back to or add user parameter in schematic...

Thanks in advance.

I don't think there's anywa way to move data in that direction by design.  It would be counter to the general workflow that Altium embodies.

I think you can get supplier parameters out through BOM outjobs, though.

Seconded, I'm not aware of any direct method.

As for indirect -- you could output the columns in the BOM (as above), then copy-paste them back into the spreadsheet view.  Might be tedious, but meh.
