Worst altium sales person
« on: April 27, 2017, 04:04:23 pm »
I just want to share with you that I have been trying to finalize one altium license order, and the sales person is being a big ass.

I decided to remove the image :)

But still, worst buying experience with altium! :)

It's somewhat unclear how the correspondence between you two went down, but he shouldn't work in sales if he lets his temper get the best of him.

I always thought that you can only be one thing at a time, either an engineer or a sales person, just two different mindsets.

Personally I would write an e-mail to him with the phrase "We will take the order AGMBH----" in the e-mail body.

He sounds like one of those Indian scammers selling you Windows insurance :) Their communications skills are similar in nature.

Just a side note about taht thought: I have started as develoment engineer. Since more then 10 years working as sales now (prefer to name it technical sales).
Taking the steady increasing business figures into account, it seems I am not one of the worst sales.
I guess it's more related to the personal skills as related to the "engineering".

The Altium person should use quotations.

You are misinterpreting his message. It is not hostile. He/she is merely trying to establish a contract to purchase over email. "That's it!" Was meant to mean this is an easy process, not anger.

And none of this should have been posted on the internet. Pick up the phone. Call. Chat. You'll be amazed how well that can work some days.

I've been trying to buy Circuit Maker.
The salespeople are the most incompetent I have ever seen. You'd think that they had never sold anything in their life before.
For a start they don't reply to their emails for days.
I just want to give them some money for a license! FFS, it's not rocket science.

For private use just go online and find one of the older cracked versions and use that.

By chance, you wouldn't happen to be dealing with someone whose name starts with a B and rhymes with Earnhardt?

circuit maker is free.
circuit studio is sold by farnell/E14
Altium designer is sold by re-sellers. If you write them a mail, just say:
- Give me a quote for Altium designer.
- 20000 Deutsche Mark, transfer money here
- You transfer the money
- you get a mail with procedure to download the license file and altium

Thats it. It is working like business 101

I wish that was true.

In general (not specific to Altium), when I ask for a quote via email, they usually call me on telephone and insist on visiting us.
They promise not to take more than an hour of our time but in practice they take half a day to show us all their beautifull
products and in addition, they want to know exactly what we are doing and how much we produce and they leave us with a ton of
papers which I immediately throw in the thrash bin...

We probably have more than a couple person-weeks invested in just dealing with Altium sales recently in an attempt to upgrade licenses, and it has not been value-added. Very unpleasant and costly experience.

Their field engineering has been pretty good. But the sales experience is like buying at the worst car dealer ever.

I couldn't agree more.  My experiences with Altium / Premier EDA have been horrific.  Their sales team even went as far as trying to cause trouble for me inside the company - fortunately their contact was routed to the person who asked me to enquire about a license upgrade in the first place!

We have had similar unpleasantness, just a different flavor. It's as if the salesperson thinks that we don't talk to each other. The irony is that after the all the sales BS, we have really soured on the idea of upgrading and are considering just dropping the whole thing. We were looking at more than a few seats, too.

The worst Altium sales person is their chief marketing officer, an interview with him was published some time back

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/adafruit-going-to-interview-altium/msg1157842/#msg1157842

No charisma whatsoever, and I could only handle may be 4 minutes of watching at most, then turned off.
