1602 v 2.0 Can't understand it
« on: June 03, 2016, 08:30:48 pm »
Hi, I bought a 1602 LCD and I can't figure it out.
I have this Data sheet : https://www.crystalfontz.com/products/document/964/CFAH1602XYYHJP_v2.0.pdf
I looked at it several times and couldn't find a satisfying description of how the thing communicates,I found that there is an example on page 35 tried it but no luck :-//.
I understand the general idea but it looks a bit weird, It doesn't have a clock input only 8 pin data and 3 pin control.
If it just scans for data changes why it is not working?
it is probably a timing problem but I don't know the operating concept ...
do someone have experience with this LCD ? (but no arduino please ;D)

It's a bog standard LCD module with HD44780-equivalent controller.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitachi_HD44780_LCD_controller

You can easily find heaps of software examples, books, reference designs etc for using these with whatever type of microprocessor platform floats your boat. 8051, PIC, PC parallel port, whatever. Or Arduino. :P
