I recently purchase a Takasago SX020-100 DC power supply on ebay and the name plate mentions 200Vac (not sure what the frequency is), the mains power in my part of the world is 230V, 50Hz. I am planning to connect a transformer 230V / 12 V transformer in series with the mains input of the DC power supply in subtractive mode that is I will connect the 12 V secondary in series with the mains input of the power supply and then power up the 230V primary of the transformer that way I expect 230 - 12 = 218V to be present on the input of the dc power supply.
Even this seems to be beyond the rating of the japanese power supply so I thought why no wire up 2 transformer s in series so that makes it 230 - 24 = 206V.
Is this a right approach to reduce voltages or is there a better one? The DC power supply is rated at 0 to 20V, 100A, so that makes it a 2000W power supply. But initially I don't intent to use it at full power.
