#279 and UK wiring.
« on: June 26, 2018, 09:40:31 pm »
Hi All

What is the implication of the topic that Dave discusses in #279 for me, being in the UK, where all electrical appliances are Earthed via a third connection in the mains plug?

Also - did Dave permanently damage the Tek 2225 in his demonstration?

Thanks.

Even if the appliance is earthed, the power supply will *usually* provide the required isolation. It doesn't really make any difference where you live, even if there is no earth, the neutral is still bonded to earth so the same rules apply. Stay away from the primary side of the power supply, the DC outputs should be safe. If in doubt, either use a multimeter to verify or don't mess with it.
