555 timer frequency increasing/decreasing
« on: February 18, 2016, 04:23:38 pm »
Hi, I want to make circuit with 555 timer, that when i press one button frequency increases, and when i press another, freq. decreases.

I need that for my LM317 project, so I could control voltage with buttons. Thank you! Sorry for my maybe awful English. Just say something where to find or what components I should use.

Get a microcontroller.
<fellbuendel> it's arduino, you're not supposed to know anything about what you're doing
<fellbuendel> if you knew, you wouldn't be using it

Yes, a microcontroller will be able to do that.

Just wondering; what does this have to do with an LM386?

Who mentioned a LM386?

Sorry, I meant LM317.

What does a variable frequency 555 timer oscillator have to do with an LM317?

What does a variable frequency 555 timer oscillator have to do with an LM317?

Maybe he was going to control the adjust pin with PWM and a filter?
Only thing I can think of.

That's PWM which is different to just changing the frequency.

It will work but the microcontroller will need to be powered from a fairly accurate power supply voltage and the filtering must be good enough to avoid noise being coupled to the LM317 output.
