60 Hz generator or motor
« on: July 17, 2017, 12:00:07 pm »
Hi everybody,

Does  a  60  Hz generator or  motor  exists?  Or does a 50 Hz  to 60 Hz  generator exists?

Regards

Isn't this suppose to be a technical and exact science?

The shaft speed and number of pole pairs determines the frequency of an alternator.

What are you trying to do? Convert 50Hz mains to 60Hz or vice versa? In the old days a motor generator set (basically a motor mechanically coupled to an alternator, via a suitable gear ratio) would be used to do this. Nowadays a rectifier and inverter will do this with no moving parts.
