AC Stepper Motor + Voltage question

Hello,

New to stepper motors, was wondering about this eBay stepper motor:
Specs on the motor say Vmax = 100VAC.
- Is there such a thing as a AC and a DC stepper motor, or are they refering to the fact that to drive the stepper motor the current flow will have to be controlled by a driver and therefore the driver will output AC ? Basically, could I drive this using a TB6600 (ignoring that It won't provide the full 6A to get the full power) ?
- Do I have to provide 100V to get the full power, how much power loss would there be if only providing say 12-24 V ?
