AC Stepper motor ??
« on: March 19, 2016, 10:17:29 am »
I have found this stepper motor  in TME here
http://www.tme.eu/en/details/103h7823-1741/electric-motors/sanyo-denki/
Motor: AC; stepper; 100VAC; step 1,8°; 2.7Nm; 1.34kg; 4A

In the description they say it is 100V AC !!

I have searched the datasheet for the rated volt but couldn't find any
I think stepper motor works on DC volts(of course using driver to drive the coils with pulses, but still using DC volts!)
so what does it mean AC in this situation?
if what I have wrote doesn't make sense for you or you think there is something wrong, please correct me, I am still beginner and what I know probably less than what you know

Maybe they are using the term AC for the normal way of driving, which
is a PWM waveform, which is AC. Odd they did it that way.

I have found this
http://www.tme.eu/en/Document/e402fe1be22f34378f0b60e0f1655d71/103h.pdf
page 42 graph for 103H7823-17
I think my motor belongs to this graph
under the graph
Source voltage : AC100V?operating current : 4A/phase, 2-phase energization?full-step
JL1 = ?7.4x10-4kg?m2?40.46 oz?in2?use the rubber coupling?

does it means it is using 100 ACV to drive the motor or this is just the motor driver voltage(which doesn't make much sense)
