I have a question about oscilloscope safety. My scope is connected to a grounded power strip with surge protection. I scope with high voltage differential probes when the DUT is not floating. I mainly scope low voltage circuits, but occasionally some high voltage ones also.

My question is: would I be adding additional safety to my way of working if i connect the power strip behind a GFI?

You will get additional safety only if you power DUT through the GFI. Connecting or not connecting the scope itself, won't change anything.

Thanks for the reply. Starting to make sense. DUT would automatically be behind the GFI since it draws from the same power strip.
