AT27C1024 read on a TL866CS
« on: September 20, 2018, 11:30:39 am »
Hello all,

Thank you for having me in your forum   :-+

I'm currently trying to replace an EPRPOM (AT27C1024). The chip is off the board and I'm working to get a read from it using a PLCC44 to DIP40 adaptor on my TL866CS (Minipro) . However I'm getting inconsistent reads of the chip.

I've tried moving the adaptor about in the DIP socket to see if it's a connection issue and also applied pressure to the top of the chip during read to check it's making sufficient contact but alas the problem still occurs.

Any advice for getting a consistent result?

try to freeze it or heat it , which ever work best . (my bet is on freeze) .
if you do not have a freeze spray, try normal air spray upside down.

And if freeze spray does work, try a contact cleaner - both on chip pins and the PLCC socket.  (Use a swab, don't soak the socket.)  Like DeOxit.
