I have family that goes to the US have often, and I know Fluke's are cheaper down there, what about scopes? There's certainly a lot more 2nd stuff but that would probably be too much hassle for my parents.

But in general, any Canadians on here cross the border to buy new meters, scopes ? Should I start saving up and planning ?

Well I'd have them walk into a store in the US and drive back, I must check prices. I'm sure Fluke's are cheaper

Another thing too, depending on how long they stay the limit for not having to pay duty, I can't remember off the top of my head what the limits are.

One thing you should consider is how does warranty work ?  If your equipment breaks, then who does warranty repair?

Buying used Fluke 87V in the USA can yield significant savings.  If your family can buy a working Fluke 87V with proper HRC fuses intact for about $150 USD or lower, that is a good deal.

Buying new, warranty could be easier local. Check for CDN distributors on the web "where to buy" with the scope mfg's.
Some tips and import tax info here.

Make sure in whatever way you can that it's a GENUINE -Made In USA- Fluke, not a cost cutting sneaker offshore clone for the same money

Source a Fluke dealer or contact Fluke directly and get it in writing that your Fluke will be a  GENUINE -Made In USA-   Fluke 87V ...not an offshore model.
Don't be shy about it either, YOU are the customer and their old policy was 'you should get what you pay for'

Their meters aren't Harbor Freight prices either, so you should get what you paid for!

The denial closet trolls will soon be here at this post to do their thing again, and I won't waste any further time or rapport with their kind, so please consider my comment as a happy Fluke owner myself  :-DMM :-DMM :-DMM

and do your own research to get the real deal, before you lay down big money

Best of luck with it   :-+

Good call, surely there are a few Canadians with good gear for sale, and perhaps close TBYB distances too   :-+
