5 volt UPS question
« on: November 11, 2016, 07:04:05 pm »
I don't know where to ask this question but this seems like a likely place to start.  I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom that only has a remote control to turn it on/off and adjust the speed.  It uses some sort of RF and to pair the remote to the fan requires a ritual of turning off the power, pressing a button on the remote while at the same time turning the power back on.  The problem is my power isn't the cleanest thing and the slightest glitch and this fan forgets about the remote and you have to go through the ritual again.  (this is particularly annoying in the middle of the night when I'd rather be sleeping and not messing around with the fan's remote and the power.)

I'm thinking about bodging in some sort of capacitor after the 5 volt power supply and before the control board to help bridge over any power glitches.  There is very little room to work with so whatever the solution is, compact is a requirement.  I throw this out there but I'm completely open to other solutions and/or being told my capacitor idea is stupid.
