I do a retrofit to LED strips and the proper driver. They are more available than CCFL's. Do a Google search and you will find many sources.
Voltage does not flow, nor does voltage go.

That will work but it's likely the colour rendering will be poorer with LEDs, than a CCFL, especially if the display was designed for CCFLs.

Or just get the right color temp LEDs or adjust the colour temp in the settings. Certainly better than a black screen..

That still won't give as good colour rendering as the original CCFL.

The screen's filters will be designed to match the spectral output of a CCFL and if it's changed to LEDs, the colour rendering will suffer. LEDs is they have a different spectrum than CCFLs, even if the colour is exactly the same. One of the common problems is they lack the red end of the spectrum. Decent LED backlit screens have LEDs with special phosphors or a combination of blue/violet dies with a phosphor and red dies to produce the missing red end of the spectrum.

The bottom line is, replacing the CCFL with an LED will work, but don't be surprised if it gives disappointing colour performance.
