Chip identification help - FOUND Silicon Labs EFM8 BB1
« on: April 08, 2017, 08:07:47 pm »
As part of my quest to reverse engineer the Nanoleaf Aurora system:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/nanoleaf-aurora-teardown/msg1158410/

I am trying to ID this chip, which is in the tiles. I assume it is some kind of microcontroller as it chats with the wifi board using a number of serial message types and it drives WS2812 LEDs in the tile.

Markings:
BB10
F4G
?JG3 (yes, I blew the chip - that's what happens when you play with a board with VDD=24V and you're not careful...)
1636 A

Well ok, somehow I missed it the first time I googled it.
It is a Silicon Labs EFM8 "Busy Bee" BB1 in a QFN20 package
C8051 inside with a UART (makes sense given the serial protocol)
