Class D Amplifier Design Help
« on: February 06, 2013, 03:29:47 pm »
I'm looking to build an amplifier to power a 4 Ohm 6 Watt Speaker, possible configured as two in series, I'm looking to use one of these chips or possibly others if they are suggested:
http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa3004d2.pdf
http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa3117d2.pdf

using this one i would only have to use one chip to power the four speakers i intend to use in the final product:

One problem I can't figure out is the effect of using the 3.5mm (the small headphone style jacks) output from the back of my computer, when the chips all expect differential input. Is this a problem? Will it work? I don't know. Any help appreciated, thanks!

Read the whole datasheet, it tells you how to use a single-ended input.

I don't mean to be rude (I know nobody really appreciates a cold "RTFM!"), but these are somewhat complicated chips. It's going to bite you in the ass if you don't read the datasheet all the way through.

(By the way, I didn't read them all the way through either, I just hit Ctrl-F and typed "single".  :))
