cockcroft walton generator

hello everyone :)
can i generate a high voltage(around 5kv) using 9v battery. iam planning to use 555 timer to get a pulsating voltage from battery which will be the input of a step up transformer & then to the input of cockcroft walton generator.  if this is possible, what will be the specification of the components & no. of stages in walton generator??
