While trying to repair a broken board (I think this is the first time for me to work on a factory made board or to make a repair of one), I noticed that some capacitors had their leads relatively straight, so the component was easy to take out, but others had their leads bent on the other side, making simple removal difficult.
What I did in those cases was cut the component leads on the side where the component is, thus removing the component, followed by trying to remove the lead (heating up the solder around it and moving it with something until it falls out). It did work, but it took a bit - or lot more time and care than the non-bent ones. Those, for the most part, simply fell out by gravity after using a simple manual desoldering iron (a combination of desoldering pump and soldering iron, really cheap, does a remarkable job).
How do experienced people desolder these parts with bent leads, is there any good advice for removing such components?
