ive have been looking into it further and have found out that it is actualy a 'slimline sata' connector.

im looking to print a caddy to fit in my disk drive space to be able to hot swap my portable disk drives into there but i need a custom adaptor to change it from the slimline to the normal adaptor.

That slimline connector is used on all laptop dvdrom drives - I assume that is where you are installing it?

Plenty of dvdrom to HDD adapters out there to fit a hard drive in place of the optical drive.

Its a portable hdd in its own case, so i need to make a custom adaptor so the connectors are in the correct place :)

Watch out for signal integrity. Unless you use an e-Sata connection, a sata cable is not necessarily going to be reliable for longer runs outside a case without shielding.

Have my SATA cables 1m from motherboard connections to top of my workbench and the only unreliability i noticed is mechanical deterioration of plugs on those cables.
