dimmer pack breakers always on
« on: October 03, 2015, 08:10:18 pm »
Hello,
As I am quite new in electronics and especially in dimmers, I could use some help in a problem I have.
I have this dimmer pack shown in the picture (dmx 6ch dimmer pack), and when I plug the power, the lamp indicators of the breakers are on, even if the main power switch is off.
It is like the main power is completely independent of the breakers.
Is this normal?
I read somewhere that the power switch turns on only the rest of the circuit, dmx etc..
I would appreciate any help!
Thanks!

The single power switch only turns the electronics on/off.  Otherwise it would have to handle the load of all channels.

Yes, it is normal.  The switch only powers the CONTROL circuit, not the LOAD circuit(s).
Else that would be an enormous breaker switch to handle the combined loads of all those dimmer channels!

Thank you very much for your answers!
Very helpful and appreciated!
That was what I was believing, I just wasn't sure.
