Hey guys just wanted to know im looking at a 19" LCD tv which when connected to the mains will only stay in stand by mode so straight away whipped off the back and had a little look tested all the capacitors and they are fine and when it came to testing the diodes one of them is allowing a flow either way would that be enough to prevent the tv from turning on even for a split second???

Could be a faulty diode or a faulty capacitor across it. Unsolder the diode and check it out of circuit, then do the same for the little 470pF capacitor as well. Norcal715 on Youtube had a video about this recently.
