DIY 50/600 Ohm BNC termination?
« on: April 11, 2016, 04:31:52 pm »
I'm currently starting to play along with a 200 kHz signal generator I picked up at the recent hamfest.
Now I seem to find myself in need of proper termination on my BNCs. Not surprisingly, to be honest.
At least I found the signal to disappear when I daisy-chain to scopes via BNC...

Now, instead of spending serious money on ready-made terminators, I wonder if it's feasible to build your own from BNC connectors and 50 or 600 Ohm resistors (depending on application)

Actually, it should be no problem, but I'm not totally sure about the quality of the resistors and the power rating.

Given that my siggen delivers something around 10 Vpp into 1 Megohm, I'd expect to need approximately 2 W rated power for a 50 Ohm terminator.
Am I thinking the right direction so far?
