Eagle OM-B restoration project
« on: March 09, 2013, 10:36:52 am »
As many of you know I'm learning and keep plodding along slowly at times, until I understand what I'm doing, anyway I saw this on ebay, cost me £10.00p nice clean unit accept for the dust I didn't clean off, all the values are out , which I expected, all the capacitor are of the paper and wax type, got to be donkey's years old. So I'm going to put all new capacitors in it, and hope to have a nice Capacitance Subsitiution box, after all that what  type of capactitors should I replace them with polyester ???????, so far you all have been excellent teachers, hope I've not asked a question to much.

100pF I would suggest a silver mica 500v unit, the 1n to 47n I would suggest polypropylene 1kV units and for the 100n and 220nF units polycarbonate 630V units. Best quality units you can get, from reputable manufacturers.

They will be good, try to get close tolerance units as well, though they will be quite a bit more expensive.
