Nope , can you take a picture of it or give the part number off the chip.

Number is scraped off, PLCC32 device.
I think its a bad AMD 27C010, the ID code according to the data sheet is 01 0E
It can't be anything else, when I read the chip the data is corrupt.
Anyway, thanks for the reply.
It would be nice to locate a manufacturer's ID reference guide instead of having to trawl google for days looking for the chip data  |O

Your programmer could be reading the wrong ID.One of my programmers returns the wrong ID if it cant recognize a chip. What programmer have you got ? ,and if youre sure youve got a 27C010 try to read it with a dfferent manufacturer . Search for 27C010 on xeltek:

http://www.xeltek.com/device_search/search.php?company=0

EDIT: To answer my own question, youve got a TL866, i noticed your post in the TL866 thread.

Does the tl866 detect the ID as "01 0E" when you press READ .

No it reports 01 0F
I checked another AM27c010 and this reports the correct ID: 01 0E so I'm convinced that the chip is faulty/damaged.

ok it reports the correct ID.Ive seen the jedec standard.Up until 2000 there was no requirement to include ID`s,the AM27c010 does support auto check. Also the AM27c010 was available in OTP (one time programmable) parts, maybe thats what youve got ? if it can`t be erased ,or like you said its just faulty.Ive got a tl866cs and i`m more than happy with it,its far easier to use than my willem programmer.

Yes it a PLCC32 OTP
I'm happy with the programmer, but a small enhancement with the GUI would make it even better
