Filtering music out of a microphone input
« on: June 20, 2014, 03:46:32 pm »
Hello :D

I have two audio feeds, one from my speakers and one from a microphone which picks up sounds in the room inclusing the sound from the speakers.

How would i go about reducing the amplitude of the speakers on the microphone input? It does not need to be perfect but it needs to be enough to effectivly reduce that noise.

Could i use op amps to filter it out or would i have to use some form of processor chip to do it?

You will find it almost impossible to filter out the music electronically. What you need to do is to select a the right type of  microphone and position it so that it picks up the speech rather than the background music.  There are some very good Eevblog's on microphones starting with http://www.eevblog.com/2014/04/12/eevblog-602-introduction-to-microphones/
