Fluke from tequipment.net - Shipping related - Australia
« on: May 19, 2017, 08:19:50 am »
Hello all,

Im trying to order from tequipment but apparently they dont ship ANY Fluke products to Australia due to region agreements or something.

So my question is how reliable are them parcel forwarding companies say like shipito or myus ?

I have emailed myus and pending a response from them see if they can ship electronics over to me here. Is it restricted or something ? surely its only just a device.

Im planning to order a Fluke DMM and have it forwarded to me here in Oz.

Any comments and ideas on this ?

many thanks.

regards,
Michael

Your Fluke meter will not be covered by any warranty over here so if you decide to continue with this purchase then my advice would be to ask the overseas distributor for the meter to be thoroughly tested before they ship it over, being a Fluke you wouldn't really expect a meter of this calibre to be dead or faulty on arrival but if it is then the return shipping costs from here will exceed any saving you may have made.

Fluke Australia Warranty. Word Document.

Yeah I saw that...damn $386 USD ~ $517 AU

So fluke distributors locally are doubling the price....yeah happens with most gear sold in AU.  I wonder why we buy OS! :palm:

On the matter of most freight forwarders most are pretty good, I've used some importing Telescope stuff from USA.  Also some USA stores can sell direct for "open package items"! There was a discussion on whirlpool on this:

Aust post even has shopmate:

FWIW...

Haaaaa now they can really loose your parcel!

I'm no big fan of the Australia Tax either.

I bought a fluke 1587 from TEEquipment using a freight forwarder, saved quite a lot. But was taking a risk I guess.

I also bought a Multifuntion tester. Fluke 1652 I think for a very reasonable price (second hand but excellent condition) from
https://www.tester.co.uk/fluke-1651b-multifunction-installation-tester or someone similar.

Both have been good.

But my first choice is not to pay the tax so I prefer Brymen and other companies that are fairer.

I used shipito years ago. I was impressed with their website. Don't know what the story is today.
My personal thoughts on Fluke price-gouging: buy from their competitors instead. Any company that can afford this sort of activity can easily live without my money.
