GBU406 suited for Mazzilli ZVS driver?
« on: June 18, 2016, 10:37:48 am »
Usually diodes like the UF4006 or MUR460 are recommended, but I don't have them at the moment, so I thought about some GBU406's I salvaged from an ATX PSU.

I assume diode recovery time is mainly governed by capacitance and internal resistance, effectively forming an RC filter (correct me if I'm wrong). Recovery times are not mentioned in the datasheet, but the capacitance is double to tripple that of an UF4006, but lower than the MUR460.

Would this mean the GBU406 would be usable, albeit maybe not optimal?

That's a full-wave bridge, isn't it?

Could you post the circuit diagram you plan to use for your Mazilli driver using a FWB instead of discrete diodes?

I was just thinking about using one diode from the bridge, nothing special.
