Getting started on STM32F429I-Disco board
« on: October 09, 2015, 02:37:46 pm »
Hi, I've purchased an STM32F429I-Disco development board, and have been trying to upload a simple program, just to blink and led and at least establish connection of some sort. But before i even coded anything, I got lost in the endless barrage of software and datasheets. I downloaded CubeMX, which seems to be used only to set gpios, timers etc, and am using the Keil uVision 5 as my IDE.

But the problem is that the Keil software seems to be missing HAL drivers. Are these supposed to be outputted by the CubeMX for the IDE or am i missing something very important? Or please explain to me what these HAL drivers are used for, or alternatives. Thanks a lot!

The misisng hal drivers listed can be seen as an attachment (hopefully), or  here http://oi58.tinypic.com/2hhq6b9.jpg

Go here if you haven't already.  I found his site very helpful.  I tried and gave up on that board twice before digging around on his site.  I can now program the hell out of that board and its family.
