Ham Radio extension speaker wiring
« on: November 13, 2013, 11:40:35 am »
I have a nice computer desktop speaker
it has its own amp in and runs off a mains
powersupply, it has a wire with a stereo
3.5mm jack on the end and im using a
3.5mm stereo or mono converter and it works great.

I would like to be able to use the speaker on other radios too
at the same time, can i just splice into the lead and add another
to it or would i need to add a diode inline to stop signal going
from one radio to another through the speaker leads ?

ideally you want a mixer. If this is for CB and not "high end" audio you can knock something up with an opamp

yes that is your basic mixing configuration, you can add as many extra channels as you want (within reason i guess). I'm sure others will want to peper it with capacitors and other improvements but that is your starting point. The + input of the amp should have a smoothing capacitor on it really.
