HD44780 VFD displays?
« on: November 29, 2016, 02:54:40 pm »
Anyone here have pixel response time problems with HD44780 compatible LCD modules before?
Whenever I try to scroll some text on screen it look really bad. (my LCD modules are the white font on blue backlight type, not sure if that makes a difference)
After some googling around for some HD44780 compatible VFD display modules and I found this -> http://noritake-vfd.com/discount.aspx
Anyone had experience with these kinds of displays before?
Since they're HD44780 compatible they can be used as a direct replacement for the LCD modules right? (I don't mind that they're 20x2 characters)

Blue-white LCDs have the worst response time. Animations look much better on Black-white or green-black type LCDs.
VFDs have a much faster response time, only limited by the display scan rate. You could also look at OLEDs. There are some 44780 compatible OLED modules.
