Help a newbie with CSR8645 or BLK-MD-SPK bluetooth modules?
« on: December 19, 2015, 05:33:45 am »
Hi community. Can somebody help me get one or both of my bluetooth modules going? I have a CSR8645 module and a BLK-MD-SPK module. I can't seem to get either to power up (or if they are powering up, they're not showing up as available for pairing on my iPhone nor my Macbook). For power, I'm presently using a JBtek 1A Lithium Battery Charging Board which is connected to a micro USB. I'm not using both bluetooth boards at the same time--just trying to get one of them to work so I can move on to the next step of connecting it to an amplifier module and integrating a rechargeable battery. I'm trying to build portable bluetooth speakers.

Here are the items:
1. V1367 module, which I think is the same as a BLK-MD-SPK with a OVC3860 chip: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281856350486?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
2. CSR8645 module http://www.ebay.com/itm/331681784012?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
3. JBtek charging board: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QGVP944?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01

I've attached pinout diagrams for the two BT modules. And some pictures of what I've tried so far. The first three are the CSR module. The second three are the V1367 module. Pretend for a moment that I know nothing about electronics--pretty much true! Can somebody just tell me what wires I need to hook up where? What resistors I need, etc. Much appreciated.

A couple more relevant details:
1. The CSR is connected at pins 14, 15, and 17. I put a 10k resistor on the pin 15 connection as pictured on the breadboard.
2. The V1367 is connected at pins 12 and 13. I also tried 10 and 13.
3. I'm getting 4 volts at the connection of pins 14 and 17 for the former and pins 12 and 13 for the latter.
4. I did some quick continuity checks to make sure I didn't short the connections where I soldered the tiny pins.

Help much appreciated!

POWER_EN is important here. It has to be connected to vbat via a 10k resistor and switched on 30ms after power is supplied to the csr8645 module.

A delay circuit must be implemented so that the above is done automatically.

Look at the attached images for the delay circuit.

Your next challenge will be to stop it making lots of noises when powered by the same supply as the amp, as lots of the bluetooth switching noises go through ground and are a problem for audio. Bloody BT is a pain for audio designers wanting good quality! You need to be very careful with your grounding - play until you get it optimized.
