Help identifying this component.
« on: August 24, 2013, 10:23:24 am »
Hi all,

I picked up a cheap dead satellite box which was broken.

I replaced the 3.3v reg and diode which fixed the boxes no boot issue (first time reworking smd !)

Now I have found the input to the inductors on the tuning board is only 12v and not the 13.2 or so volts it requires.

After probing around the board I found that it traces back to this SOT23-6 part .. but what is it ?  I has a input of 12 volts and 12 volts out...

And a transistor is also nearby, thanks for any help :)

The way its connected says mosfet or transistor.
4 thick connections  (heatsink and drain or source)
1 thick connection  (drain or source)
 1 thin connection  (gate)

Theres 1.1 volts on one pin and 12.2 volts on another ... 12.2 volts output on all 4 output pins ...

I think this should be making 13.2 volts or am I barking up the wrong tree ?

It seems ok to me. Pin 1 is marked by the arrow, the other must be counted counterclockwise. Which is 1.1V? I guess it's pin 3, the thin one.

Just check if there is not short between 4 and 5.
