Help me read this datasheet

I have a simple circuit where I want to turn on and off a led, plus dim it by controlling the gate on this jfet with a potentiometer
What is the cutoff voltage that I need to apply to the gate  ? Is it -6V

-6V to assure cutoff, but it "may" cutoff at as low as -1V
