Help ordering right size SMT parts for OshPark Shared project?
« on: October 03, 2016, 06:33:37 pm »
I ordered I few PCB's from oshpark for a RF low noise amplifier, I have a ton of the acuall amplifier chip and the power regulators. I usually deadbug or use veri-board so I don't know how to use Eagle, and the schematic is not in English. Basically I just need to know what size the passives are, I think most of them are 1005 from what I can tell with calipers, I know the inductors are a bit bigger though and the SMA pads don't fit the launch style SMA connectors I use on most everything.

The download and information for the PCB is here https://oshpark.com/shared_projects, if anyone could help me out, by either telling me how to figure out the part size in eagle, or just telling me what size the parts are I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello,

It would help if you have linked the actual project page, that shared project page has 1901 sub pages ... There is the "Permalink" feature on the page for that.

Re passives size - it would be probably best to track down the author of the original board and ask them what they have used.

O jessus christ!!!! I already ordered the parts 0603 and 0805 that was my best guess using digital calipers. Although I forgot to get the sma connectors.

Here is the project links, original site and oshpark, any help would still be appreciated so I can figure out a better way to do this in the future

Tantalum caps in case code A, 0603 ceramic caps and resistor, 0805 inductors.

They used stock Eagle footprints, so the 0603 and 0805 are basically interchangable.

His original site has a zipped Eagle project, so you could download the free version of Eagle (https://cadsoft.io/) and open the project in it. That will tell you the sizes of the footprints. I guess that is what Monkeh has done, I don't have Eagle installed myself.

Calipers are the sure fire way to figure that out too, nothing wrong with that.

Or you could ask the guy - he has a contact form on his website. I have checked on QRZ.com, but OK3ZB doesn't have an e-mail there, sadly.

I didn't even bother opening Eagle, the files are just XML.
