Help with USB sound card oscilloscope
« on: April 19, 2018, 06:41:43 pm »
Hello, I just bought a USB sound card and was hoping to make it into an oscilloscope. The problem is I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do it. Projects I found online were not clear to me, can anybody help?

http://www.instructables.com/id/USB-Oscilloscope-with-Signal-generator/ Is this a good project?

Question is: what do you want to examine?
Unfortunately, using a sound card to look at signals is difficult and can be quite confusing because the signal is heavily distorted before it is captured by the A/D converter.

I'm not telling you that it can't be done, only that you may be better off investing your time and money in something more worthwhile.
