I am trying to be careful, but SWMBO is working me.  I might want to be a bit wary, she is the sole beneficiary of the insurances policies!!
Sounds like it's time for a hard hat, insulated steel toe boots, insulated gloves, and decent safety goggles.  Perhaps even a bullet proof vest.  :o :-DD

I envy those that have the space - an 8ft bench with surrounding storage is a luxury I simply don't have. I set aside a 4ft bench for electronics within my workshop (garage) which also contains mostly machine tools.
I'm with cdev; that's excellent use of what you have available.  :-+

I'm almost done with mine so its not quite ready for the show your bench thread.  I built the bottom months ago by gluing laminate to plywood then routering out small sections to keep the stuff from sliding around then recently decided to make it the same dimensions as my reloading stand to make it sit on top.
Looks good so far.  :-+

BTW, does the work surface slide out so you can use a chair?

I ask, as it looks like there may be some sort of drawer slide mech. between it and the lower cabinet portion.

The work surface is just sticks slightly out the front, any bigger and it wouldn't fit inside the cabinet.  So it wouldn't work for sitting for long periods of time but I have kids so I only get a small amount of time anyway.

So what i did, since I'm limited by time and space is tried to make something small now that can be expanded on later.  There are two cubes here buts 19" rack width and 8 u tall.  The top one has two drawers (well the second isn't done yet), the bottom is empty for now.  I made two cubes because carrying the whole thing was too much.

The soldering box takes 1/2 of the bottom cabinet leaving space for another box of something.  When not soldering I slide it in there. then I can carry the bottom downstairs.  then I carry the top downstairs and latch back on to the bottom and use either the press or the soldering setup.

Eventually I'll make a couple more then have them as ends of a bench and a big table between.
