How to ask questions.
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:31:25 am »
As Dave mentions in his Drivetime video a lot of people are sending questions directly to Dave.  I would like to stick my oar on this subject and make some points from one electronics beginner to others.

Asking questions in forums opposed to direct emails not only has the advantage of reaching more potential responders and getting you a solution faster, but also makes the question and answer publicly available to other people with similar problems, potential spreading the collective wisdom further.

Also once you have found a solution its great if you can write a little something about what worked for you.  There is nothing more annoying than someone asking a question getting some pointers in the right direction and then posting "Got it now!".  Thats great but please let the rest of us know what you did to make it work.  I see this a lot in programming/computer forums and it really grinds my gears.

Thanks
